What are these shoes?

November 6th, 2009

A final Genoa note … these were the shoes that I wore for most of the trip, and I was quite delighted with them. They’re called “Cresson” by Naturalizer (not really a name that makes sense, but better than some of the company’s other attempts).

But what kind of shoes are these? You see them a lot, these kinds of half ballet flat/half running shoe. What are they called? I can highly recommend them for travel–they’re wonderfully comfortable and look good with everything. If I knew what to call them I’d run around telling everyone about them.

They fit in the general category of “athleisure”, which sounds to me more like the track suits people lounge around in.

Those are concert sneakers – I use them when singing in concerts that require me to stand longer than I can tolerate in heels. They’re wonderful.

Athleisure? It sounds like a philosophical position. “I don’t believe in professional sports, I’m an athleist.”

_Atheleisure_ as a philosophical position sounds much better, but here’s the blog entry I originally saw on it: http://tinyurl.com/athleisure

Naturalizer makes the most comfortable shoes (I have wonderful t-strap pumps that I can wear all day) and they’re adorable to boot! (*ba-dum-chiii*). Methinks I gotta stock up on a new pair or two for Paris in January.
