Today’s column

February 14th, 2010

… is online here.

I’ve also got an extra feature up — since this was a wedding issue, go figure — about how to deliver a toast. It was written for weddings, but works for other situations, too.

Laughing about the problems of saying your computer is “down” if you live in a geek-rich environment, because it’s happened to me (although the computer was in fact down and they did get it running, so it wasn’t a total loss).

I’m single and date around, in a circle where this is acknowledged and acceptable social behavior. I was at a party recently and noticed three of my “boyfriends” (such a silly word for grownups, but I know none better) talking and heard my name. Were they comparing notes or deciding on an intervention or anything emotional? No, they were deciding what kind of computer upgrade I needed and how they would talk me into it.
