A classic poem revised to suit my current mood

September 26th, 2011

When I am an old woman I shall say, “Purple?
And a red hat that doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me?”
And I shall say, “Screw that!”
And get a poison ring instead
And a sword cane like the Kray Brothers carried.

I’ve always revised this in my mind as “…I shall wear Carhartt…”

(Instead of Krappy Kmart denim that disintegrates in the mere presence of dirt).

I bet there’s a blogosphere’s worth of actions and reactions undertaken on the basis of this poem. Yours made my day!

Took me a while to get here, but yes, I agree, made my day.
